CK-12’s FlexBooks 2.0

These are CK-12’s flagship product: digital textbooks that are open-source, fully customizable, and 100% free for everyone.

The FlexBooks® 2.0 platform is the evolution of the FlexBook: a one-of-a-kind resource filled with interactivity, teacher insights, and integrated functionality.

They are standards-aligned and designed to be deeply engaging. Educators can quickly add, delete, or reorder content to match the scope and sequencing of their lessons. Since the launch of the platform, educators have customized more than 46,000 FlexBooks 2.0.

Class Reports and Insights let educators see where students are excelling or struggling, including measures of students’ engagement with lesson content, performance on assigned practice questions, and how the two are correlated.

Simulations, videos, and adaptive practice questions are built in, creating a multi-modal learning experience for students that uniquely empowers them to learn in their own way.

Their flagship science programs include Middle School Earth Science, Life Science, and Physical Science, as well as High School Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. And their flagship math programs include Middle School Math 6-8, as well as Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Precalculus.

FlexBooks 2.0 have been especially impactful during the  pandemic, empowering educators with a platform that’s perfect for distance learning and built to fit their classrooms’ unique needs. Duane Habecker, a mathematics coordinator for the Merced County Office of Education in central California, said earlier this year: “CK-12 means that the hard work we’re doing now is going to last way beyond COVID-19.”

The CK-12 FlexBook is the Cool Tool Award Winner (2021) for “Best New Product or Service” as part of The EdTech Awards from EdTech Digest.  Learn more.
