How to Assemble the Community Helpers Emergent Reader

The quickest way to get started with the community helpers book is to print it out and staple it. If you want a bit more detail, here you go:

  • First, you’ll need to download the community helpers book. Grab yours from the bottom of this post.
  • Print out the number of copies you need (or head to the copier).
  • Then, fold each page in half along the middle. Make sure the pictures are facing out.
  • Next, place the pages in order with the folded edges to the right-hand side.
  • Finally, staple along the left-most edge of the book.

And that’s it! If you want to see it in action, check out this quick video:

Depending on the use and the kids, sometimes I will cut and laminate the pages separately. Or I might even punch holes in the spine and string it together with yarn or ribbon. You can get the kids involved helping with this part if you’d like.
