Kindergarten May & June Morning Bins

The end of the year is just around the corner, and I’ve just added the Kindergarten May & June Morning Bins to the Kindergarten Morning Bin Bundle! As we prepare to wrap up the school year, it can become more difficult to keep students engaged and interested in reviewing all that they have learned over the year. That’s why I’ve kept the morning bins FUN! The cute summer theme and the hands-on games and activities are sure to bring a smile to your students’ faces.

NOTE: Many teachers are choosing to use these as early finisher tubs or during a different part of the day. Generic labels have been included for this purpose.

Let’s take a look at each of the Kindergarten May/June Morning Bins in action! There is no right or wrong way to use these morning bins! In fact, they can be used any time of the day! For example, you can place all 21 bins out each month and have students work on an individual bin, or you can bring one bin out each day. However, I like the idea of allowing a table group of 4-6 students to work on one bin at a time. This allows them to socialize, work as partners, and learn from one another.

To make things easy for you, each bin has simplified direction cards and a material list.

Morning Bin #1: Rhyming

Students will think of three words that rhyme with the item and spell each of the words.

Morning Bin #2: Segment & Blend

Students will pick a card, read the word, add an e to the end, and find the picture to match the new word.

Morning Bin #3: Identify

Students will look at the picture, say the word, and clip the word that matches the picture.

Morning Bin #4: Sounds

Students pick a card, say the word, listen for the vowel sound and decide if it is a short vowel or long vowel.

Morning Bin #5: Syllables/Compound Words

Students say the word on the card, clap the syllables, and use cubes to show how many syllables there are.

Morning Bin #6: Sequence

Students will read the short story and match the pictures to each sentence.

Morning Bin #7: Vocabulary

Students will look at the picture and word. Students will match the letters and word to the picture.

Morning Bin #8: Printing

Students will pick the sight word that best completes the sentence and write it on the lines.

Morning Bin #9: Extra Practice

Students will pick the sight word that best completes the sentence and write it on the lines.

Morning Bin #10: Patterns

Students will pick a card, look at the letter pattern and use manipulatives to create the pattern.

Morning Bin #11: Count/Sequence

Students will spin both spinners to make a 2-digit number. Then they will write the next 5 numbers that follow it.

Morning Bin #12: Making and Counting Groups

Students will pick a card, decide what number completes the number bond, and cover the number on the mat.

Morning Bin #13: Compare and Measure

Students will use snap cubes and paperclips to measure the items two different ways.

Morning Bin #14: Shapes

Students will look for and count the given shapes. Then they will write how many of each shape they found.

Morning Bin #15: Sorting

Students will sort coins by type. Extension: Students will sort coins by value.

Morning Bin #16: Numeral Identification

Students will count the tally marks and match them to the correct numeral.

Morning Bin #17: Base Ten

Students will add ones and a ten to make a teen number. Students will take the ones or the ten from a teen number.

Morning Bin #18: Math Printing

Students will use a push pin to poke the dots in the names of the coins.

Morning Bin #19: Add and Subtract

Students will connect the lines for the numbers that add up to the given total.

Morning Bin #20: Motor Skills

Students will use beads and a pipe cleaner to make the color pattern on the card.

Morning Bin #21: Social/Emotional

Students will look at the poster and write and draw about what they can do if they get bored at home.
