The Fun Multiplication Activity Your 3rd Graders Will Love

Kids are much more engaged with math activities that are fun. Fun means games, hands-on activities (especially those involving glue sticks!), and anything with manipulatives! That’s why I know this fun multiplication activity will be loved by your 3rd Grade students. It’s got glue, scissors, math models, and coloring if you like. All the things kids love in a multiplication activity!

Fun activities are great, but where does the rigor come in?

It’s error analysis! This fun and engaging multiplication activity called 2 Truths and a Lie will have your students using error analysis to choose which 2 multiplication equations are true and which one is a lie.

They LOVE the challenge of finding errors! You will love the rigor and practice that your students will get with this activity.

2 Truths and a Lie – Multiplication Arrays

Each set of multiplication arrays has 3 possibilities – two are true, one is false. This one is a great way for students to work with multiplication arrays!

2 Truths and a Lie – Equal Groups

Another important multiplication math model students will learn is equal groups. In this set, they will use error analysis to figure out which group is not equal and does not represent the equation given.

I love the digital option because it is NO PREP and paperless! I can just assign it to a student to complete on the computer, IPad, or tablet.

2 Truths and a Lie – Factors and Products

Learning the correct math vocabulary is an important part of math lessons. For multiplication, that means factors and products. In this set, students are given multiplication equations and they must decide if the description of factors and products matches the equation. This is a really good one for student conversations!

2 Truths and a Lie – Related Facts

Understanding related facts is a huge step in mastering multiplication facts. If your students can identify related facts, they will be able to remember more multiplication facts.

2 Truths and a Lie – Products

In this set, students will decide if the related facts, arrays, and equal groups equal the product. This set is great for fact fluency too!
